The Honorable Alexis M. Herman
FORMER SECRETARY OF LABOR (1997-2001)
Vice President Gore swore in Alexis M. Herman, America's
23rd Secretary of Labor and the first African-American ever
to lead the Labor Department, on May 1, 1997. Currently,
Herman serves as Chair and CEO of New Ventures, Inc., and
has continued to lend her expertise and talent to a vast
array of corporate enterprises and non-profit organizations.

Susan L. Taylor
EDITORIAL DIRECTOR AND CHIEF CONTENT
OFFICER ESSENCE MAGAZINE
Taylor served as editor-in-chief of Essence from 1981-2000.
Taylor is the driving force behind one of the most celebrated
black-owned business success stories of the past three decades.
She directs all editorial operations of the magazine and
oversees the content of all divisions of the multimedia
company. Susan also works to develop new businesses and
expand Essence's global reach.

Laybourne founded Oxygen Media and has served as its Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer since its inception in 1998.
Prior to starting Oxygen, Ms. Laybourne was president of
Disney/ABC Cable Networks where she was responsible for
overseeing current cable programming for the Walt Disney
Company and its ABC subsidiary.

Dr. Sally Ride
FORMER NASA ASTRONAUT
Dr. Sally Ride became the first American woman in space.
Dr. Ride is currently a professor of physics at the University
of California, San Diego. She is also Co-Founder and CEO
of Imaginary Lines, Inc., a company dedicated to encouraging
more young girls of middle school age to pursue math and
science. Dr. Ride is a former member of the President's
Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology and has
twice been awarded the National Spaceflight Medal.

The Honorable Ann W. Richards
FORMER GOVERNOR OF TEXAS
On January 15, 1991 Richards became the 45th Governor of
Texas - the first woman elected to that job in her own right.
Ann Richards now works as a Senior Advisor with special
responsibilities for the New York office of Public Strategies,
Inc., an Austin-based consulting firm that helps companies
analyze, develop and implement their public agendas. She
is also a member of several boards
