2013 Annual Report
Dear Fellow Shareholders:
2013 was a tough year – for the economy, for government contractors, and for TCS.
Sequestration, continuing resolutions and a fourth quarter government shutdown
created unprecedented and unpredictable circumstances for our government
business. We addressed these challenges and the setbacks of one of our important
commercial customers through cost management actions. We believe the most
difficult chapters are behind us.
To be sure, our enthusiasm continues to run high, as we are confident that we
possess the breadth, scale and history to position the company for growth.
Leading global commercial and defense technology companies who need experts
in secure and innovative wireless communication are coming to TCS to collaborate
on new communication technologies. A number of new communication technology
programs are under way, such as the Commerce Department’s FirstNet program,
where our business unit lines of public safety, commercial and national security
intersect – and they are not limited to the US.
In 2014, we anticipate a renewal of demand for both next generation 9-1-1 call
handling and ESInet (Emergency Services IP Network) solutions, as funds from the
federal government begin to flow into state and local coffers as a result of the end of
sequestration. TCS is currently preparing proposals for multiple statewide ESInets,
following a year-long period of few new statewide RFPs. TCS has NENA i3 standards-
compliant ESInets.
