Forterra’s steadfast dedication and undeterred
commitment to the Chinese market is best evidenced by
its thriving and robust Corporate Social Responsibility
(“CSR”) Program represented by the well established
“Forterra Foundation for the Children of China”, a charity
program that is into its fifth year of operations and
“Forterra Connections (incorporating The Irish Centre)”,
a not-for-profit multi-function facility offering full range
of services to the multinational community in Shanghai.
FORTERRA FOUNDATION FOR THE
CHILDREN OF CHINA
Established in 2007, Forterra Foundation for the
Children of China is an integral part of the Group’s
corporate social responsibility program. As an
international charity, Forterra aims specifically to aid and
support the education and welfare of children in China
so as to make a material and meaningful contribution
to China’s next generation. As of December 2012,
Forterra Foundation has raised and disbursed more than
RMB3.78 million of funds through this investment in 55
projects which have positively influenced the lives of
more than 16,300 children in China.
In 2012, major initiatives undertaken by the Forterra
Foundation included:
“Speak English and Explore the World”
– English
teaching program for underprivileged children in
Shanghai’s Nandong and Nanxi Communities
“Dream Day at the Zoo”
– event for migrant
children, disabled children, children of low-income
local families, and orphans under institutional care
in Shanghai
“Learning by Doing”
– Science Education Summer
Camp for underprivileged children in Shanghai’s
Beixinjing Community
“Care for Our Children Program”
– Providing
scholarships, remedial tutoring classes and other
educational activities to underprivileged children
“Same Start Line and Happier Childhood”
– Art
education program including a fine arts class
and a performing arts class for underprivileged
children in Shanghai’s Nanxi Community
Sponsorship for children of Penglai No. 2
Primary School in Shanghai’s Huangpu District to
participate in structured sport training provided
by Sport for All on a weekly basis
Scholarships for high-achieving primary and
middle school students of low-income families in
Beijing’s Shunyi District
Foster care allowances for orphaned children
with disabilities in Mianyang Children’s Welfare
Institution, Sichuan Province
Sponsorship for Half the Sky Foundation’s infant
nurture program in Nanjing Children’s Welfare
Institution, Jiangsu Province
Dream Day at the Zoo
