so as to make a meaningful and
material contribution to China’s
next generation.
Since its inception in 2007 and,
especially, the establishment of
Forterra-SCF Charitable Fund
for Children in August 2008
in partnership with Shanghai
Charity Foundation (SCF) as a
major working platform, Forterra
Foundation’s charitable works
have benefited a cumulative total
of over 20,000 Chinese children in
Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Sichuan,
Qinghai, Shandong, Jiangxi, Anhui
and Gansu as of December 2013.
In September 2013, Forterra
Foundation proudly launched
the Rainbow Playground Project,
which builds concrete playgrounds
and donates sports equipment for
needy primary schools in under/
less-developed rural areas in China,
with funding from the Forterra-
SCF Chartable Fund for Children.
By the end of December 2013,
two playgrounds, with total area
of 1,090 sqm, were commissioned
to use at the primary schools in
Gansu and Shandong Provinces
respect ively, benef i t ing 320
students and more in the future.
In 2013, other major initiatives
undertaken by the Forterra
Foundation included:
• “Speak English, Explore the
World” – Engl ish tutoring
program for underprivileged
children in Shanghai’s Nandong
and Nanxi Communities;
• “Same Starting Line, Happier
Childhood” – Art education
program for underprivileged
children in Shanghai’s Nanxi
Community;
• “United Love Summer Camp
2013” – Summer camp which
inv i ted

migrant workers in Shanghai;
• Donation of an Odyssey of the
Mind Classroom (equipment,
tools, and supplies) to Yangfan
School, i.e. a special education
school in Shanghai’s Yangpu
District with over 180 mentally
disabled students; and
• Funding support for Changning
Distr ict Special Educat ion
School to carry out a range of
themed events and “experience
day” activities benefiting over
80 mentally disabled children.
