In 2013, we continued to enhance the ways we keep our Allstate brand customers in Good Hands. We completed rollout of the eAgent Web-based management system to Allstate agencies, enabling more comprehensive service, stronger customer relationships and growth. We also streamlined customer service and provided greater flexibility to claims and other front-line employees to meet customers’ needs in the moment. These enhancements demonstrate the power of collaboration toward our common goals: satisfied customers and profitable growth.

Agency owners become the face of the Allstate brand to their communities by offering local advice and caring. They come to Allstate from a variety of career paths, based on a common interest in running their own businesses and helping people. Meet father-and-son team Alfonso and Eduardo Padillo, who became Allstaters after serving in the United States Army and the Army Reserve, respectively.

When a tornado devastated parts of Moore, Okla., two-year Allstate agent Jessica Max was impressed to see first-hand how our claims operation helped people rebuild their lives – and one customer was likewise impressed that Max personally visited his home to express concern and reassure him that Allstate would deliver on what it promised.

Our research shows that Allstate brand customers value the personal attention and advice offered by Allstate agency owners and their staff members. Advice on life and retirement products is particularly valuable – these products can be complex and a product recommendation should depend on the customer’s age and personal situation. To help consumers think about their life insurance needs, Allstate offers a personalized online tool to assess their “lifetrek”...an online calculator to determine an appropriate amount of life insurance...and personal financial representatives at local Allstate agencies to help customers choose among the many options available.

Allstate benefits

Allstate Benefits offers workplace life and voluntary accident and health insurance through Allstate agencies and workplace enrolling independent agents. Since underwriter American Heritage Life Insurance Company was acquired by Allstate in 1999, Allstate Benefits has become an industry leader in voluntary benefits – insurance products that employees may choose to purchase through their companies at rates that are lower than they could get on their own. More than 31,000 companies now offer their employees insurance through Allstate Benefits, including universal life, term life, disability income, cancer, accident, heart and stroke, critical illness, hospital indemnity, vision and dental insurance. Allstate Benefits’ new business written premiums increased 9.4% in 2013.
