So 2009…As a company we had some priorities, keep Allstate financially strong, drive customer loyalty, and re-invent protection in retirement for consumers.

I don’t think we had the forethought at the beginning of 2009 to realize just how bad the economy was going to be, but fortunately we had clear enough vision that things were going to be tough and what we ought to do is make sure we were positioned to handle those challenges.

Very, very thoughtful on the front end, and we did a terrific job keeping the organization financially strong and financially stable, and as we watched so many competitors hit the rocks, and so many big name brands across the U.S. market place have trouble…Just a terrific opportunity to say, boy we navigated those choppy waters and kept the organization in a good financial position.
