One South African doctor who has used Hemopure answered the following questions posed by Biopure:
Q. | When you first approached your patients about Hemopure, what was their reaction? |
A. | Each patient had a very positive response, as concerns regarding disease transmission in Africa are a real issue when blood transfusions are mentioned as a therapeutic option. |
Q. | How has the use of Hemopure changed patient outcomes? |
A. | I’ve noticed less post-op tiredness, improved mental interaction and earlier patient recovery and well-being. |
Q. | Do you find Hemopure easy to use? |
A. | Yes. After learning how to use the product I’ve found it’s easy to integrate Hemopure into clinical practice. |
Q. | If Hemopure were not available, what would be the impact to your patients? |
A. | Without Hemopure, my patients would be exposed to high-risk blood transfusions and, in my opinion, longer recuperation periods and slower wound healing. |
Q. | Has the use of Hemopure changed how you practice medicine? |
A. | Yes, I’m less reluctant to transfuse with Hemopure than red blood cells in patients who are borderline candidates and especially in those patients needing post-operative chemotherapy. |
