Caraustar Industries, Inc. is one of the largest and most cost-efficient manufacturers of recycled paperboard and converted paperboard products in the U.S. The company has developed its leadership position in the industry through diversification and integration from raw materials to finished products.
Caraustar has 119 operations located in 30 states, Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom:
- 22 primary manufacturing facilities for recycled paperboard, plastics,
and adhesives
- 87 converting operations that manufacture paper tubes, cores,
folding cartons,composite containers, gypsum wallboard and
specialized industrial packaging
- 8 recovered fiber recycling centers and sales offices
- 1 transportation company
- 1 chemical consulting company
The company consists of four operating business groups:
- Mill Group
- Custom Packaging Group
- Industrial & Consumer Products Group
- Recovered Fiber Group
Caraustar serves the four principal recycled paperboard markets:
- Tubes, cores and composite containers
- Folding cartons
- Gypsum wallboard facing paper
- Other specialty products
Each of Caraustar's mills has the capability to manufacture paperboard for at least two of the four primary markets. This flexibility has been a fundamental component of the company's ability to operate at high capacity utilization levels while maintaining cost efficiencies and generating strong cash flow.
The close of 2002 marked Caraustar's 65th year of offering quality, dedication and superior products and services. The company prides itself on contributing to the preservation of the environment as a leader in providing recycled paperboard products.
