The Behrens Family

I'm the youngest in my family but somehow was the one to make the biggest decisions. . . . My first experience with funeral homes began in
April of 1973 when my oldest brother died at the age of 26 in a car accident. . . . Four short years later I lost yet another brother in another car accident. We once again decided to go [to the same funeral home] where we now had a friend.

On December 25, 1986, I lost my best friend, my mom. . . . I was surrounded by the [funeral home] staff that were themselves pulled away from the holiday festivities to help me with funeral arrangements. . . . My dad died in May of 1988.

I remember saying I wanted the same type
of service for him as I had for my mom. . . .

[The funeral director] was totally prepared for us.

Some years passed and [the funeral home] was purchased by Stewart Enterprises. I remember thinking that I sure hoped the people there don't ever change. They didn't and I'm speaking from experience! I have recently lost two uncles. . . . They had very little life insurance so their funerals were much simpler. [But] I was treated no differently and rich or poor didn't have a bearing on their care!

It's hard to believe but I do have a few family members left and when we need this service we will have no discussion. Our choice is clear.
