Non-GAAP Financial Measures
This presentation contains certain non-GAAP financial measures, including core revenue before the effect of foreign exchange, and earnings per share before non-core gains and charges. We define core revenue as total revenue less the results of divested businesses. We define non-core gains and charges as restructuring charges (whether recurring or non-recurring) and certain other items we consider do not reflect our underlying business performance. We talk about our results this way because that is how we manage and evaluate the performance of our business.
The most directly comparable GAAP measure and a reconciliation between each non-GAAP measure and the comparable GAAP measure can be found in the Appendix to this presentation. Our revenue growth aspirations are provided only on a non-GAAP basis because we are unable to predict the future movements of foreign exchange rates or potential business model changes.
