In a joint venture between Hoverspeed Ltd. and a subsidiary of Mediterranean Shipping Company called SNAV-SeaCat, a fast ferry service between Ancona, Italy, and Split, Croatia was launched in 2000 using a Sea Containers first-generation SeaCat. Tourism to Croatia is rapidly recovering now that tensions in the Balkans have lessened. The service is expected to make an operating profit in 2001.
