Choices in the 1970's Foodservice industry magazines in the 1970s published recipes featuring canned vegetables and fruits, cake mixes, frozen foods and processed meats and cheeses - the primary products of a distributor like SYSCO, which carried 4,000 dry goods and 1,000 frozen items at a typical location. Improved transportation methods and more reliable refrigeration brought more choices. SYSCO now distributes 275,000 products including foods like fresh milk and chicken, frozen European pastries, broccoli florets, fresh herbs, seafood and much more.
