Brazil, 25th anniversary; Millipore Korea, 10th anniversary.
_In December, Millipore announced that it entered into an
agreement with Applied Biosystems to jointly develop and
market next-generation sample preparation consumables for
high-throughput proteomics.
_Fisher Scientific named Millipore its Supplier of
the Year for the third year in a row.
_In May, Millipore announced that it formed an alliance
with BOC Edwards to develop and market an integrated bath
regeneration system for copper electrochemical deposition
(ECD) applications in the semiconductor industry.
_Millipore was named to Working Mother magazines list
of the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers.
This is the fourth time that Millipore was named to this
prestigious list.
_The Millipore Foundation celebrated its 15th year of supporting
scientific and technological education programs, improving
the quality of life in Millipores U.S. communities,
and supporting employees volunteer efforts. In 2000,
the Foundation gave $771,000 to 91 eligible organizations
and provided $424,000 in matching gifts for U.S. employee
donations.
_Millipore employees Fumio Nozaki, Kuniyoshi Takahara and
Rob Zeller received the companys highest honor for
technical accomplishment, the Jack Bush Award for Innovation,
for their development of two key versions of Millipores
nickel membrane filter the first cost-effective solution
for filtering gases in the corrosive environment of the
semiconductor manufacturing process.
_A team of nine Millipore employees from Japan and the U.S.
received the companys highest honor for customer satisfaction,
the Jack Mulvany Award for Customer Satisfaction, for their
development of an innovative filtration and dispense pump
that met a key Microelectronics OEMs exact specifications.
_Millipores manufacturing facilities in Cork, Ireland
and Jaffrey, New Hampshire achieved ISO 14001 certification
the Environmental Management Standard.
_Millipores manufacturing operations worldwide continued
to improve their efficiencies and exceed environmental milestones.
In 2000, 44 percent of the solid waste generated was recycled.
Since 1990, all manufacturing plants worldwide have reduced
the total amount of chemical emissions by more than 70 percent.
