In Silicon Valley, people work around the clock—
coming and going at all hours. So when the card reader system broke down at HQ Global in Mountain View, California—a CarrAmerica-managed building—at
10 o’clock at night, it was no small issue. The system couldn’t be repaired until the next day and people would be unable to gain access through the main entrance of the building. Enter Engineer Javier Ochoa, who took the call from HQ Global reporting the problem. Ochoa volunteered to act as door person and official greeter all night long so that HQ Global’s customers wouldn’t be inconvenienced by the problem. Then, after Ochoa had manned the entrance from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m., he went on to complete his regularly scheduled 8-hour shift. In an organization where the customer always comes first, it’s all in a day’s work. Says Leah Segawa, Managing Director for Northern California, “Being able to pleasantly surprise our tenants with customer service that goes above and beyond the call of duty is what makes CarrAmerica different.”
