Products and Technology
From the beginning, Merit has demonstrated uncommon success in
identifying customer needs in products used by both radiologists
and cardiologists. As the company matures and grows, we will continue
to build upon our solid base of innovation while creating differentiated
products. Our technology continues to expand as we improve core
competencies in injection molding, insert molding, semiconductor
and sensor technology, catheter braiding and extrusion, tubing
braiding and extrusion, guide wire coiling and manufacturing,
custom kit assembly and packaging, marker band forming (“swaging”),
catheter and wire surface modification, and electronic programming
and circuits.

business models. In 2005, Merit responded to these market challenges
by expanding manufacturing capabilities, increasing the effectiveness
of the field sales organization and investing in several new, differentiated
products while accelerating the pace of new product innovation.
These strategic decisions have greatly increased the flow of new
products through the development pipeline while improving manufacturing
capacity. Investments in R&D and personnel will allow Merit to enter
a new era of growth in a changing market.
Continually broadening the product
offering
A significant factor in Merit’s sales
growth during 2005 was new product introductions and line extensions.
In 2005 and early 2006, Merit introduced new products in several categories.
