Summary - Fuelling the Future
- Both gas and coal will continue to provide the bulk of incremental electricity demand for next decade
- Coal growth in three areas:
1. Capacity “creep” of existing capacity, equivalent of 7-12 large baseload units
2. Similar amount of new coal-fired generation
3. Higher utilization of existing coal plants
Result: growing coal use at 2-3% per year
