Covering the World with Strategic Alliances

HFI's strategic alliances continue to be a significant source of growth. HFI's strategic partner in Spain, Campofrio Alimentacion, S.A., made two significant investments during the year, acquiring Grupo Navidul, S.A., and obtaining controlling interest in OMSA Alimentacion, S.A. Grupo Navidul, S.A., is Spain's largest producer of dry-cured hams. The company also produces many other processed meats, including Spanish chorizo, mortadella and cooked ham, for both retail and foodservice markets. OMSA Alimentacion, S.A., is the fifth largest meat processor in Spain with a primary focus on pork slaughtering and fresh and processed meats. It is the market loader in luncheon meats and bacon and complements Campofrio's leadership position in dry-cured sausages and processed meats.

HFI's other strategic European partner, Tulip International A/S, Arhus, Denmark, enjoyed great success with SPAM luncheon meat and Stags chili in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This trade and consumer acceptance encouraged Tulip International to expand distribution of Stagg chili into Germany.
