RON G. GARRIQUES
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Motorola, Inc.
Personal Communications Sector EMEA Region

Ron Garriques is senior vice president and general manager for Motorola's Personal Communications Sector in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). In this assignment, Ron is based in Basingstoke, United Kingdom. He leads all operations for the Personal Communications Sector within the vibrant and trend-setting region. Ron was named to this position in September 2002.

Previously, Ron was senior vice president and general manager, Worldwide Product Line Management for Motorola's Personal Communications Sector. He was responsible for managing a unified multi-generation product line and driving the creation and delivery of the products and solutions that consumers demand. His group handles issues such as product management, program management, marketing, and the consumer design experience.

Prior to assuming the position, Ron served as vice president and general manager of the Program Management Organisation. There his responsibilities included market analysis through product launch and close out. He drove the integration and execution of business processes, while establishing a commonality of methodology, tools and process across the sector.

He joined Motorola in 1998 as vice president and general manager of the Performance Category in Piscataway, New Jersey, where his management responsibilities included Research & Development, Product Marketing, Business Management, Human Resources, and Finance. During this time, Ron quadrupled revenues for the category and increased market share while maintaining competitive margins. He also played a lead role in the development and implementation of a new global platform for all wireless technologies.

Ron began his Bell Labs career in 1986 as an MTS at AT&T Microelectronics, Power Systems. In 1991, he assumed responsibility for the hardware and software field support of AT&T Wireless Infrastructure products in AT&T Network Systems. Over the next few years, Ron held management positions of increasing responsibility, and in 1995, was named wireless customer technical support and deployment project management vice president.

As one of the key people behind the success of the AMPS business, he led major product and process improvements and was the development project manager for Series II, PCS, CDMA, and TDMA products. These products form the cornerstone of the Lucent Technologies infrastructure growth. Ron is credited with leading the worldwide deployment of CDMA and TDMA technologies that catapulted Lucent to a dominant market leadership in these offers.

In his role prior to joining Motorola, Ron led the research, development and deployment of wireless terminals for Philips Consumer Communications. His accomplishments include the successful introduction of a high quality TDMA DM/DB phone; one of the industry's first.

Ron holds a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, a master of science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and a M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Ron will be relocating to the United Kingdom with his wife, Karena, and their daughter, Lauren.
