Ameren’s non-rate-regulated power plants,
most of them in Illinois, will benefit from more
than $2 billion to be spent over the next five
years to add pollution control equipment to meet
federal requirements for significantly reducing
plant emissions, including mercury. For example,
at AmerenEnergy Generating Company’s
Coffeen Power Station, a new scrubber will
remove more than 95 percent of the plant’s
sulfur dioxide emissions by late 2009.
