Note 16. Segment Information

The Company's operations are conducted in two reportable business segments: the Electronics Group and the Industrial Group. The segments are each managed separately because of the distinctions between the products, services, markets, customers, technologies, and workforce skills of the segments. The Electronics Group provides a wide range of manufacturing and technical services for a diversified customer base as an outsourced service provider. The Electronics Group also manufactures complex data storage systems, magnetic instruments, current sensors, and other electronic products. The Industrial Group provides manufacturing services for a variety of customers that outsource forged and finished steel components and subassemblies. The Industrial Group also manufactures high-pressure closures and other fabricated products. Revenue derived from outsourced services for the Electronics Group accounted for 55%, 67% and 65% of total net revenue in 2002, 2001 and 2000, respectively. Revenue derived from outsourced services for the Industrial Group accounted for 29%, 15% and 12% of total net revenue in 2002, 2001 and 2000, respectively. There was no intersegment net revenue recognized for all years presented.

The Company's export sales from the U.S. totaled $25,437,000, $23,890,000 and $25,250,000 in 2002, 2001 and 2000, respectively.
