On Saturday night our entire central voice, data, and e-commerce technology center was destroyed! Within hours we were up and running, answering phones, taking orders and delivering customer requirements. Our phone, e-mail and Internet service is still not up to TESSCOs world-class standard there may be delays in answering your calls, and TESSCO.com® is not yet operating (it will be by weeks end). But, please keep your requirements coming to us and we will deliver your expectation! Let me recap what happened so you can appreciate the amazing spirit, energy, competence and capability of the TESSCO team: Last Saturday evening, October 12, a malfunctioning public water system resulted in a 6-inch main driving water with tremendous force directly toward the outside wall of TESSCOs Global Logistics Center in Hunt Valley. The water cannon blew a three-foot square hole through the wall, immediately into our network operating center, destroying the equipment and functionality of our central voice, data, and Internet systems. While we waited three painful hours for the water to be turned off by the public works department, the entire 180,000 square foot facility was flooded with almost a foot of water, rendering it uninhabitable for about 250 TESSCO team members. Our offices will require complete reconstruction. Fortunately, our distribution center and inventory was spared significant damage. Most inventory is stored 18 off the ground, and any product that was remotely affected was disposed of and replaced we have the performance guaranteed product and distribution capacity to deliver your requirements! Thankfully, no one was injured, and work has been progressing 24 hours a day to restore our customer service to our world-class standards. The distribution center floor is dry, clean, and even shining. All data has been restored, and phone, data, and customer service diverted to our other Hunt Valley, Maryland and Reno, Nevada, facilities. Service will continue to improve. We are not there yet, but weve made incredible progress. So here is the summary of where we are as of Wednesday at noon:
