LEN J. LAUER was appointed president of Sprint's PCS Division in September 2002. In this role, he leads the nation's first and largest, all-digital, all-PCS nationwide, personal communications services (PCS) network.
Lauer joined Sprint in 1998 from Bell Atlantic-New Jersey, where he was president and CEO of the operation. He was named president of the Consumer Services Group in Global Markets Group in 1999 and became president of Sprint Business in May 2000. Six months later Lauer was named president of the Global Markets Group. In that position he directed the operation's domestic and international marketing, product development, sales, network operations, technology planning and information technology functions.
Before coming to Sprint, Lauer spent more
than five years with Bell Atlantic Corporation.
During the last three years, he served as
President and CEO of Bell Atlantic-New Jersey.
Prior to 1992, Lauer spent 13 years with
IBM holding a variety of management positions
in marketing and sales.
Lauer holds a Bachelor of Science degree
in managerial economics from the University
of California-San Diego. He is a board member
of Children's Mercy Hospital, Maplewood
Partners, Virgin Mobile USA, and a member
of the Business Council Steering Committee
of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
