Dr. FRANZ FINK
Vice President and General Manager, Motorola, Inc.
Wireless & Mobile Systems Group, Semiconductor Products Sector

Franz Fink is the vice president and general manager of the Wireless and Mobile Systems Group. The Wireless & Mobile Systems Group is accelerating time-to-market for our customers by providing a complete platform solution that reduces system count, offers one-stop shopping for solutions spanning from voice-only 2G and 2.5G (GPRS) to fully integrated 3G platforms and provides everything needed from silicon to software to support services.

In 1991, Franz joined Motorola in Munich, Germany, as the ASIC design automation manager for Europe. Since that time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility within the company in the areas of design and operations management.

From 1994 to 1996, Franz was European design technology manager for Motorola SPS, based in Munich. From 1996 to early 2001, he was located in East Kilbride, Scotland. During this time, he held the positions of operations manager for the Advanced Microcontroller Division, operations manager for the Powertrain Systems Division, Europe, and operations manager for the Advanced Vehicle Systems Division, Europe.

In 1999, Franz was promoted to operations director of the Powertrain Systems Operation within the Advanced Vehicle Systems Division. In this position, he played an integral role in defining a product roadmap for PowerPC™ - one of the world's most commercially successful microcontroller architectures. Franz guided his team to achieve breakthrough design wins at leading automotive electronics systems suppliers.

In May 2001, Franz relocated to Austin, Texas, as general manager of the 32-bit Embedded Controller Division in the Transportation and Standard Products Group. He was promoted to vice president in January 2003.
