Tom Lynch is an executive vice president of Motorola, and president and chief executive officer of its Personal Communications Sector. Headquartered in Libertyville, Illinois, the Personal Communications Sector is a business that designs, manufactures, sells and services wireless subscriber equipment, including cellular and digital-radio (iDEN™) telephones, paging and wireless messaging devices, personal two-way radios and accessories.
Prior to assuming his present position in September 2002, Tom was executive vice president of Motorola and president of Motorola's Integrated Electronic Systems Sector, the business segment that provides integrated electronic systems for automotive, telematics, industrial, telecommunications, computing and portable energy systems markets.
From 1997 to January 2000, he was senior vice president and general manager of satellite and broadcast network systems for GeneraI Instrument Corporation, which merged with Motorola in January 2000. He was named vice president and general manager of the company's transmission network systems in 1994. After joining General Instrument in 1982, Tom served as vice president of marketing for distribution systems and as a divisional chief financial officer.
Tom earned a B.S. degree in commerce from Rider University in New Jersey.
He serves on the board of directors of United Way of Lake County and Junior Achievement of Chicago.
