Omid Tahernia joined Motorola in 1984 and is currently Vice President and Director of Strategy and Business Development for the Wireless and Mobile Systems Group of Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector. His recent accomplishments include introduction of the Mobile Extreme Convergence (MXC) platform architecture and the acquisition of XtremeSpectrum, Inc.'s ultra-wideband business extending Motorola wireless leadership to emerging areas. Prior to this role, Omid was Vice President and General Manager of the Wireless and Mobile Systems Division.
At Motorola, Omid has worked in the Japan Paging Products Operations, Private Paging, Advanced Paging Development and International Paging Products Development. He also served as director of FLEX Enabling Operations, where he made FLEX chipset solutions available to the merchant market by licensing this Motorola technology and enabling FLEX application development.
Omid received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in 1982 and an M.S.EE degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1983. He holds 13 U.S. patents and has received the Motorola Distinguished Innovator and Patent of the Year awards in 1993 and 1994 respectively.
