Dover Corporate Development History

Our long history of making successful acquisitions began with Fred Durham, CEO from 1956 through 1966. In just over 45 years, Dover has acquired more than 100 manufacturing companies. This acquisition strategy has benefitted Dover stockholders, employees and customers.


1955
Dover—comprised of four companies: Rotary Lift1, C. Lee Cook, Morris and Peerless2—goes public.
1Dover Elevator later became an independent operating company after an internal spin-off from Rotary. [Divested in 1999.]
