Under EIMA, ComEd replaced and refurbished twice as much cable and poles and installed nearly 65 percent more distribution automation devices than in any previous year. The grid modernization program created more than 700 jobs in 2012 alone. The year also was marked by regulatory
challenges, beginning with a rate order that reduced funding essential to completing the modernization program required by law. ComEd is pursuing resolution of the issue in the legislature and the courts.
