I can't get past the registration page.

Check to be sure you have entered information into all required fields before clicking the Submit button.

I can't hear the audio.

1. Check to see that your speakers are:
  • connected to the correct port on the back of your computer
  • plugged into a power outlet
  • turned on and turned up to a typically audible level

2. Adjust your system volume settings.

  • Click Start ->Settings ->Control Panel.
  • Select Multimedia
  • From the audio tab, select the audio icon and turn up the volume. Verify that the Mute boxes are not checked. If the playback audio area is inaccessible it is likely that your system is not configured for sound.

3. Turn up the volume on the media player.

  • Open your media player from your Start menu.
  • Look for the speaker icon and adjust the volume using the slide bar adjacent to the icon.

I can't see the video.

The 28K connection speed offers audience members audio only. Use a faster connection to view video with a minimum connection speed of 56K.

Your media player may be out of date or may not be properly installed. Try downloading and reinstalling your media player.

If you are using Netscape and Windows Media Player, you may need to install the Windows Media Player Plug-in for Netscape.

If you are behind a firewall or proxy server, your media player may not be using the correct proxy server settings. If you are receiving error messages that say, "Could not locate server…" or "Cannot open file…" try re-installing your media player to correct your proxy settings. Or, you can adjust these settings manually:

For Windows Media Player:

  1. Open your Windows Media Player from your Start menu.
  2. Click View ->Options.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. Select Streaming Media (Windows Media) and click Change.
  5. Under Protocols, verify that HTTP is checked and select: Use browser proxy setting.

For Real Player:

  1. Open your Real Player from your Start menu.
  2. Click on View ->Preferences.
  3. Click on the Proxy tab.
  4. Under HTTP Options, select: Use my web browser's HTTP proxy.

My video keeps stopping and starting.

This problem is most often due to network congestion.

Try exiting the webcast and re-launching with a lower speed video.

Try increasing the buffering time for your media player.

For Windows Media Player:

  1. Open the Windows Media Player from your Start menu.
  2. Click View ->Options.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. Select Streaming Media (Windows Media) and click Change.
  5. Under Buffering, select Buffer and increase the amount of buffer time.

For Real Player:

  1. Open your Real Player from your Start menu.
  2. Click on View ->Preferences.
  3. Click on the Connection tab.
  4. Under Buffered Play, select: Buffer entire clip up to available memory.

The Welcome page says come back at a time that has already passed.

The Welcome page may be cached in your system. Try emptying your cache.

For Internet Explorer:

  1. From the Tools menu select Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab.
  3. Under Temporary Internet Files select Delete Files and click OK.

For Netscape Communicator:

  1. From the Edit menu select Preferences.
  2. Select the Advanced section and select Cache.
  3. Click the Clear Disk Cache button and the Clear Memory Cache button and then click OK.

When I attempt to view the webcast my browser locks up.

If your browser locks up as you attempt to view the webcast, empty your browser's cache (see answer above for instructions), and then re-launch the webcast.

When I attempt to view the webcast my computer locks up.

Try upgrading your Internet Browser to a newer version and/or try installing a newer version of your media player.

The presentation slides are not flipping.

If you've joined a webcast after it has started, the slides may be out of sync until the next "slide flip" is conducted.

My question isn't showing up in the Q&A frame.

After you submit a question, it is transferred to a moderator who screens all the questions. The moderator then selects questions to answer and posts responses. Once the response has been posted, it takes about 30 seconds before the Q&A frame on your interface refreshes with the newly posted answer.
