As we mark 30 years since Magnetek’s incorporation in June 2014, we celebrate the
over 100 years of pioneering innovation that form the foundation of Magnetek’s business today.
1901 Mechanical Appliance Company formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by Mr. Louis Allis
1922 Company name changed to The Louis Allis Company
1960 Telemotive Industrial Controls of
Glendale Heights, Illinois pioneered the use
of radio controls on overhead cranes
1965 Power Control Corporation formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
1967 Louis Allis Drives & Systems acquired by Litton Industries
1971 Power Control Corporation's first AC to DC power converters developed for the mining industry
1974 Mondel Engineering founded in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada to meet the needs of the overhead
crane brake market in North America
1977 First DC drive sold to Otis Elevator Company as the basis for their proprietary elevator drive
1981 Electromotive Systems founded in West Allis, Wisconsin
