MR. JACK YANG
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Jack Yang is
the Chief Operating
Officer of the Trustee-
Manager. Mr. Yang has
more than 26 years of
diverse experience in
property development
and management with
14 years on-the-ground
experience in China.
Before joining Forterra Trust, Mr. Yang was
with Metro AG as the Head of Construction and
Equipment, responsible for Metro China’s overall
planning, design, construction and property
management. From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Yang was
with Gazeley Ltd, a UK developer that was formerly
owned by Wal-Mart. During his time with Gazeley,
Mr. Yang held various senior positions including the
Managing Director of China with overall responsibility
for Gazeley’s business expansion and operations in
China. As one of the earliest staff member’s in China,
Mr. Yang was instrumental in establishing Gazeley’s
first project joint venture and successfully delivered
a 45,000 square metres built-to-suit development
for Wal-Mart. Mr. Yang has previously worked for
Shanghai Cambridge Property Development (part
of Hong Kong listed SPG Land Group) and Kerry
Properties Ltd, Hong Kong. Mr. Yang has overseen the
development of a number of large scale projects with
total gross floor area in excess of 500,000 square
metres.
Mr. Yang graduated from Tong Ji University in 1983
with a Bachelor of Engineering degree and also holds
a Master of Engineering Degree from the University of
British Columbia in Canada. He is a PEng registered
in the Province of British Columbia in Canada. He
received executive education from Harvard Business
School, Tsinghua University and CEIBS.
MR. RICHARD DAVID
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. David is an Executive
Director of the Board
as well as the Chief
Executive Officer of the
Trustee-Manager. Mr.
David was formerly a
non-executive director
of China Real Estate
Opportunities Ltd
(“CREO”). Mr. David is
the Legal Representative of all the PRC operating
companies within the Trust and is also a director of
the Property Manager.
Mr. David has enjoyed a 30-year career in real estate,
and in that time he has held various positions in
funds management, direct real estate management
as owner and manager, development management
and marketing in addition to more than 13 years of
on-the-ground experience establishing and managing
real estate platforms in China. Prior to joining Forterra
in 2007, Richard was the head of real estate in China
for Macquarie Group Limited, the Australia-listed
investment bank and a member of Macquarie’s senior
management team in Asia Pacific.
Mr. David is also currently a Director of the Forterra
Foundation for the Children of China, a philanthropic
organization established in 2007. He was also a
recipient of the 2012 Gold Magnolia Award and 2009
Silver Magnolia Award by the Shanghai Municipal
Government for services to the community and
business as well as the Shanghai Charity Star Award
in 2008/9.
Mr. David sits on the Council of Governors for Asia
Pacific Real Estate Association (“APREA” – Asian
based affiliate of NAREIT) and is a founding Director
of the APREA China Chapter that was launched
in 2012 and was formerly a board member of the
Australian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
He is a regular contributor to the leading real estate
publications and conferences throughout Asia such as
The Economist, MIPIM, Real Estate Investment World
(“REIW”) and CityScape Global, he has also appeared
on CNBC, BBC, Bloomberg and ChannelNewsAsia as
Chinese real estate market commentator.
