Chief Investment Officer
Ms. Wendy Yao is
the Chief Investment
Officer, responsible for
identifying, researching
and evaluating
potential acquisitions
and development
opportunities and related
investments in China
with a view to enhancing
the portfolio and
executing acquisitions approved by the Board.
Ms. Yao has 19 years of experience working in the real
estate industry in London, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Before joining Forterra Trust, she was with Citigroup
Property Investors as China Chief Representative
and Chief Investment Officer, responsible for setting
up the China representative office, identifying and
presenting the investment opportunities to the
investment committee and executing the approved
investment and asset management of the China
portfolio.
Ms. Yao has an MA in Property Valuation and Law
from the City University Business School in London
and is also a member of the Royal Institution of
Chartered Surveyors (“RICS”) and an RICS Assessor
in China.
MR. RICHARD DING
Chief Strategy Officer and
General Counsel
Mr. Richard Ding is
the Chief Strategy
Officer and General
Counsel of the Trustee-
Manager. In 2007, he
joined Forterra Trust
as General Counsel. Mr.
Ding has over 18 years
of experience serving
in a number of senior executive management and
legal positions, with responsibility encompassing
general management, investment management, legal
risk management, corporate compliance, as well as
corporate transaction negotiation and execution
where he successfully lead the completion of a wide
range of corporate transactions, in particular, cross
border corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions,
and venture investments, particularly in China.
From 2003 to 2007, Mr. Ding served as General
Counsel, and Director of Strategy and Corporate
Transactions for Visteon Corporation’s Asia Pacific
operations, where in addition to his responsibilities
as senior legal officer in the region; Mr. Ding
was responsible for formulating Visteon’s Asia
Pacific strategy, and leading Visteon’s merger and
acquisitions and joint venture efforts in the region.
From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Ding served as Managing
Director of Concord Venture Capital’s operations
in the US where he was responsible for all of the
fund’s operations in the US, including identifying
new investments, and overseeing and managing the
fund’s existing investment interest in over 20 portfolio
companies. Mr. Ding was Co-Head of Overseas
Investment and Director of Legal Affairs at Asia Pulp
& Paper Company from 1996 to 2000. Mr. Ding began
his legal career as an associate at Winthrop, Stimson,
Putnam and Roberts where he served in their New
York and Hong Kong offices from 1992 to 1996.
Mr. Ding graduated from the University of California,
Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics
and Political Science. Mr. Ding holds a Juris Doctor
degree from Columbia University’s School of Law and
a Masters degree in Business Administration from
National Chengchi University. Mr. Ding was admitted
to the New York State Bar in 1993.
