In memory of Bernie Vonderschmitt,
Xilinx co-founder, Chairman Emeritus and former Chairman of the Board.

So much of the success Xilinx enjoys today can be attributed to Bernie’s foresight,
business acumen and ingenuity.

During his tenure at Xilinx, Bernie orchestrated the Company’s “fabless” strategy of
forming close partnerships with semiconductor manufacturers, freeing Xilinx from costly
capital investments in foundries, allowing the Company to focus its resources on design,
support and marketing.

He was instrumental in guiding Xilinx from a Silicon Valley startup in 1984 to a
$1.6 billion global enterprise employing more than 3,000 people worldwide to become
the undisputed PLD leader.

Bernie was an industry icon and a warm and wonderful human being.
How fortunate we are to have known him. He will truly be missed.
