Prologue
The world's most innovative electronics companies look to Cognex to help automate their assembly processes and bring their next-generation devices to market.

Much like myself, Cognex is world-renowned for using logic and astute observation to solve complex problems. But instead of following a trail of clues set by the fiendish Professor Moriarty, Cognex targets—and solves—the most challenging puzzles concerning automation in factories around the world!

The result of Cognex’s problem-solving prowess was a sharp decline in product defects at manufacturers around the world in 2016. Care for an example or two? How about the machine vision system Cognex devised that sees objects in three dimensions? Or the reliable vision solutions that Cognex implemented in factories throughout China, where most consumer electronic products are currently produced?

Ah...my dear Watson and I uncovered the reason why Cognex was so successful last year. Cognex’s success in 2016 was directly linked to the worldwide increase in the use of automation in manufacturing, and Cognex vision systems and barcode readers are an integral part of that growing trend.

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you about all of the wonders of Cognex here, because I’m off on another case. Instead, you’ll need to digest Watson’s detailed account on the pages that follow. So toss on your cloak if you have one, brew a pot of tea, and find yourself a comfortable chair.

It promises to be a most fascinating read!
