In October 2016, Progressive invited Brazilian artist Lucia Koch to its corporate headquarters in Mayfield Village, Ohio to create two site-specific installations for the Visitors Center lobby. Once Ms. Koch observed the formal qualities of the space, she covered the vestibule in gradients of azure and sun-orange to create the Sunset Box. Also prominently featured in the lobby, is one of the artist’s large-scale photographs titled Popcorn that creates the illusion of an extra room that extends from the back wall. In the skylight, Ms. Koch installed The Sky Looks Very Different Today  —  its brilliant reds and yellows observable from the surrounding offices. As the light from the sun passes through the lobby, the artworks tint the sunlight and intensify the space, illuminating both the transition between inside and outside, and the transition of time. This work is a permanent addition to Progressive’s growing collection of contemporary art.
