Our heartfelt sympathy goes to the family and friends of Emeritus Director Weldon W. Case, who passed away in September. His inspiration and years of loyal service will be long and fondly remembered.

On February 18, 1999, due to increased business demands, Stephen E. Myers resigned from the Akron Community Board of FirstMerit Bank, N.A. and as a Director of FirstMerit Corporation. We thank Mr. Myers for his nine years of dedicated service and contributions.

After over twenty years of dedicated and insightful service, Elizabeth A. Dalton retired from her positions as Director of FirstMerit Corporation and Community Director of the Akron Community Board of FirstMerit Bank, NA on April 22, 1999. An Akron native, Mrs. Dalton continues a variety of leadership roles in the community.

As we look back to our record year of earnings in 1999, we thank all our employees for their hard work, and we extend our gratitude for the leadership and vision provided by our Corporate Board of Directors. Finally, we thank our management group, whose energy and dedication makes them among the very best we have had the pleasure to work with.
