Increasingly, CarrAmerica is creating long-term customer relationships across markets. The company’s expertise in all aspects of the development process—including the ability to deliver workable prototype designs—facilitates those ongoing relationships. Take 3Com as an example. A global company with revenues of $3.4 billion, 3Com makes connectivity products and solutions, and provides access infrastructure and IP services platforms for network service providers. 3Com is a CarrAmerica customer in Seattle, Denver, Salt Lake City and Northern Virginia, and is also a major customer of HQ Global Workplaces, Inc. In Salt Lake City, 3Com selected CarrAmerica for a build-to-suit project during a selective bidding process, in part, because CarrAmerica presented a prototype design developed for technology companies and originally built at La Jolla Spectrum Technology Park in San Diego. The design suited 3Com’s needs and shaved months off the development schedule. CarrAmerica then located and acquired a site in West Valley City, Utah with enough acreage for 3Com to build the building they needed today as well as to meet their future expansion needs. 3Com’s two-story, 78,000 square foot offices at Lake Park Corporate Centre are adjacent to a 27-hole championship golf course, a pedestrian pathway system and more than 60 acres of lakes and channels. Abe Darwish, Vice President of Real Estate and Site Services for 3Com, says, “CarrAmerica is providing us with the highest quality real estate services here in Salt Lake and across the U.S.”
