Maryland - Spending on primary and secondary education is budgeted to increase 8.1% over fiscal 2001

Florida - 6.4% increase over fiscal 2001 for primary and secondary education

Texas - 7.1% increase for 2002/2003 biennium (begins Sept. 1)

Alabama - 2.8% increase over state’s revised fiscal 2001 budget
