Take monoclonal antibodies. These highly-specific proteins are used for quick determination of pregnancy and for promising new cancer therapies. There are now 74 monoclonal antibodies in pre-clinical and clinical stages of development. Millipore purification technologies are used in discovery, scale-up and manufacturing of monoclonals. And Millipore membrane is a substrate in most of the 100 million or so home pregnancy test kits used each year.
