Find the contaminant. The typical research laboratory uses 200 liters of water a week, and that water has to be ultra ultra pure. For example, ribonuclease (RNAse), even at parts per trillion levels, is a contaminant that can wipe out weeks of critical life science research work. Millipore had the first system with documented performance in removing RNAse from lab water.

Computerized molecular model of ribonuclease, an enzyme.
