ESTABLISHING RYLAND AS A VALUE LEADER

In addition to increasing market dominance, we are working to meet the needs of homebuyers by establishing ourselves as a value leader. We are doing this with a focused product and land strategy that allows us to position Ryland's homes within the more affordable, lower half of the price range in any given market segment. We also are providing additional value to our homebuyers by reducing direct construction costs through value engineering and national and regional purchasing strategies. In this way, we have been able to pass along significant savings to our buyers while maintaining or increasing the quality of materials and workmanship in our homes.

These value-oriented strategies are helping us sell more homes faster, as well as reduce costs. As a result, we are realizing higher operating margins and profits for our shareholders.

Located in the San Francisco Bay area, the Gossamer model (above) offers buyers a variety of design options, from a master suite retreat to a mahogany enclosed smoking room. The community Gossamer Isle is known for its views of the Bay. As a result of its popular floor plans and excellent location, Ryland sold out its homes in this community in just eight months.
