management changes announced in 2000
After 30 years of service, Bob Clanin announced his retirement from UPS and his resignation from the Board of Directors. He had served as a Director since 1996. Effective upon Bob's retirement, D. Scott Davis joined the management committee and was elected Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.

After 31 years of service, Chuck Schaffer announced his retirement from UPS and his resignation from the Board of Directors. He had served as a Director since 1992. Effective upon Chuck's retirement, Tom Weidemeyer was elected Chief Operating Officer.

Symantec Corporation Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer John Thompson was elected to the Board of Directors in August 2000. He joined Symantec after a 28-year career with IBM, rising to the position of general manager of IBM Americas. John holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida A&M University and a master’s degree in management science from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
