Arizona Division
The year was one of transition and change in direction for our Arizona Division.
We brought in a new management team, led by Division President Tom Hickcox,
a seasoned executive in the Phoenix housing market and former President
of Continental Homes, with 16 years of service at that company. We have
re-established many long-term relationships with the land brokerage community,
trade subcontractors and master-planned community developers.
We are beginning to show results in this Division, with a 230% increase
to 145 new home deliveries in the second half of 2000, from 44 units delivered
in the first half of the year. We have purchased or control 585 new lots,
many of which are located in established master-planned communities.
The Phoenix market is very active and very competitive, with over 30,000
new home deliveries for each of the last three years, and is populated by
most of the nation's largest homebuilders. As we rise to this challenge,
we remain focused on re-establishing ourselves as a leader in this market.
