Nevada Division
As of December 31, 2000, the Nevada Division of William Lyon Homes, Inc.
successfully completed its fifth year of operations after a "ground zero"
start-up, with no land holdings and only two employees. At year-end, our
Nevada Division's sales volume ranked in the top 10% of homebuilders in
southern Nevada.
Guided by Division President Mary Connelly, the Division closed 349 homes
and generated 321 new orders, with a total sales volume of $66.1 million.
In the 25,000 acre master-planned community developed by Howard Hughes Corporation,
known as Summerlin, which has been rated the number one master-planned community
in the nation for the last six years, two of our Company's projects ranked
as top sellers in the new Willows Village. During the year we also completed
development of the number one selling executive level neighborhood in all
of Summerlin.
The Howard Hughes Corporation further honored William Lyon Homes, Inc. by
naming our sales representatives, two years in a row, to receive the Howard
Hughes Salesperson of the Year Award for "move-up" homes. They also selected
our Nevada Division as the only homebuilding company to develop luxury homes
at their new, premier Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course village to be known
as "The Ridges." We're also proud to have the two top selling projects in
the new, world-class private golf course community of Southern Highlands
in Las Vegas.
In the very competitive Las Vegas market, our Nevada team's consistent record
of on-schedule home completions, combined with high quality workmanship,
contributed to our superior results -achieved with focus and understanding
of their market and business demands, and the ultimate goal of building
a quality product that satisfies our customers' expectations.
