Hormel Cinta Azul Foods of Central America, SRL, HFI's joint venture in Central America, expanded distribution in Honduras, Belize and Guatemala in fiscal 2000, resulting in sales volume increases for SPAM luncheon meat and Hormel chunk meats. Hormel Alimentos S.A. de C.V., a joint venture initiative with Grupo Herdez, S.A. de C.V., acquired the Solo brand of bouillon, enabling HFI to enter this large and growing Mexican consumer foods category and add to it with a planned line of Dona Maria bouillon products.
