Vail's Tim Hanley finishes industrial rolls for delivery to metal and paper manufacturers

Covers for industrial rolls take an enormous amount of punishment. These rolls, used by paper mills, metal processors and other heavy industries, need covers that can cushion the thinnest paper or endure months of pulling miles of metal sheet.

Vail Rubber Works in St. Joseph, Michigan, specializes in developing roll cover materials that meet the most demanding specifications. One of its customers, an aluminum processor, needed a cover material flexible enough to grip metal, and tough enough to resist cuts from sharp edges and high friction temperatures. And they wanted a cover that would last a year, three times the life of the standard urethane cover.

Crompton's Adiprene® LF cast urethane prepolymer provided the elasticity and durability Vail Rubber needed. Adiprene prepolymer is flexible like rubber, but much more abrasion resistant, even under the toughest loads.

"Thanks to the Adiprene prepolymer, our customer's line is running at peak efficiency," said Vail Rubber's Tim Hanley.
