Past the façades and addresses of our buildings are faces and actions that make Trizec more than the sum of its portfolio. Beyond real estate, we endeavor to reaffirm our role as good corporate citizen and community partner.
“Valuing one another” is central to the Trizec culture and we honor this whenever we give our talent, time and resources. This year, overwhelming natural disasters prompted an overwhelming response. In the wake of the Asian tsunami, Trizec made a pledge to disaster relief and set up donation stations in each of our office buildings. With upwards of 120,000 individuals passing through our lobbies each day, we created a unique venue for collecting funds for the UNICEF Tsunami Relief Effort.
When Hurricane Katrina tore apart lives and livelihoods, Trizec responded with financial and physical assistance. Dozens of employees throughout the country hosted fundraisers and benefits, participated in blood drives and volunteered at relief centers to aid the displaced. We were humbled by the many who opened their hearts and hands to help.
Corporate citizenship is a motivating priority, and we direct energy to it. This year, we not only participated in the American Red Cross and Special Olympics, but also launched an exciting partnership with Project Sunshine, an innovative national non-profit service organization.
Project Sunshine provides free social, educational and recreational programs to children and families affected by medical challenges. Selected by our employees as our first-ever national charity partner, Project Sunshine offers a highly adaptable program of volunteering, customizable to the needs of Trizec employees in each region.
While financial statements are a gauge of profitability, an unspoken measure of success is corporate conscience. By giving back and giving beyond, Trizec is making its mark to empower employees and enrich communities.
