Treasury China Trust Annual Report 2010 33

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As a certified Carbon Neutral company, TCT is committed to developing and promoting sustainable business practices and in 2010 has undertaken several initiatives to build on its green credentials achieved over the past number of years.

TCT’s Beijing office relocated to new premises in October 2010 and undertook a fit-out using locally-sourced materials and high-efficiency LED lighting, resulting in a scheme that is expected to meet LEED Silver certification requirements. Applications for formal certification are now being registered with the US Green Building Council by TCT’s designers.

In 2010, TCT’s China headquarters office in Shanghai witnessed the implementation of a lighting retrofit programme to put in place high efficiency LED lighting to help reduce the carbon footprint and overall energy costs. Expectations are that TCT will eventually see annual energy costs and power consumption reduced by almost 65% as a result. Importantly, TCT’s biggest development project, the City Center Extension, is on target to achieve LEED Gold certification, with a majority of the required credits already having been satisfied in the design, and the remaining credits likely to be achieved as the design progresses during 2011.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) remains a fundamental component of TCT’s business philosophy and execution. As Asia’s first Carbon Neutral Real Estate company and the sponsor of Ireland’s only charity approved for operations in China, TCT explicitly fulfills its commitment as a responsible corporate citizen.

Asia’s First Carbon Neutral Company

TCT’s commitment to carbon neutral status extends to efforts in marketing and communications including its Annual Report which utilises FSC-certified paper.
