John P. Wareham
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Beckman Coulter, Inc. Mr. Wareham has held many positions at Beckman including Vice President Diagnostic Systems Group from 1984 to 1993, and President and COO, 1993 to 1998. Previously, he was President of Norden Laboratories, Inc., of SmithKline Beckman Corporation, which he joined in 1968. Mr. Wareham is a director and Chairman-Elect of the Health Industry Manufacturers Association (HIMA) and a member of the Center for Corporate Innovation. Board member since 1993.
Hugh K. Coble
Vice Chairman Emeritus, former board member and executive of Fluor Corporation. Mr. Coble is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Petroleum Institute and the World Business Advisory Council. He also serves on the board of directors of Flowserve Corporation and ICO Global Communications. Board member since 1996.

Carolyne K. Davis, Ph.D.
Member of the Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences and a trustee for the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. Previously, Dr. Davis was a part-time scholar in residence at the Sloan Health Management Program at Cornell University and a national and international health care advisor to Ernst & Young from 1985 to 1997. Dr. Davis serves on the boards of Merck & Co., The Prudential Insurance Company of America, MiniMed, Inc., and Beverly Enterprises. Board member since 1989.

Peter B. Dervan, Ph.D.
Bren Professor of Chemistry in the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Dervan serves on the scientific advisory boards of Gilead Sciences, GeneSoft, Pharmacyclics, and Prolinx Biochemistry and is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Robert A. Welch Foundation. He is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Institute of Medicine. Dr. Dervan is a director of GeneSoft. Board member since 1997.
Ronald W. Dollens
President and Chief Executive Officer of Guidant Corporation, a global leader in the medical device industry. Prior to the formation of Guidant Corporation in 1994, Mr. Dollens served as President of Eli Lilly’s Medical Devices and Diagnostics Division and President and CEO of Advanced Cardiovascular Systems (ACS). He serves as Chairman of the Health Industry Manufacturers Association (HIMA) and holds board positions at the Indiana Health Industry Forum and St. Vincent Hospital Foundation. Board member since 1999.

Charles A. Haggerty
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Digital Corporation. Mr. Haggerty previously held progressively responsible positions at IBM Corporation for 28 years. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota, and serves as a director of Pentair, Inc. and Vixel Corporation. Board member since 1996.

Gavin S. Herbert
Chairman Emeritus and a current director of Allergan, Inc. Mr. Herbert helped found that company in 1950, serving as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He is a life trustee of the University of Southern California and on the Board of Directors of Research to Prevent Blindness, the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace Foundation, and Doheny Eye Institute. Board member since 1988.
Van B. Honeycutt
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). Mr. Honeycutt joined CSC in 1975. He has held many posts with CSC including, most recently, those of President of CSC’s Industry Services Group from 1987 to 1993, President and COO of CSC from 1993 to 1995, and President and CEO from 1995 to present. He serves as Chairman of the President’s National Security Tele- communications Advisory Committee and a director of Tenet Healthcare Corporation. Board member since 1998.

William N. Kelley, M.D.
Chief Executive Officer of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and Health System, Dean of the School of Medicine and Executive Vice President of the University since 1989. Dr. Kelley serves on the boards of Merck & Co., Inc., Greater Philadelphia First Corp., Wistar Institute, Leonard David Institute of Health Economics, Philadelphia Orchestra Association and Emory University. Dr. Kelley is a director of the Institute of Medicine, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Assn. of American Physicians, and the American Philosophical Society. Board member since 1994.

 
C. Roderick O’Neil
Chairman of O’Neil Associates, an investment management consulting firm, since 1987. Mr. O’Neil is a director of Ambac Financial Group Inc., Ambac Assurance Corporation, Cadre Institutional Investors Trust, and Fort Dearborn Income Securities, Inc. In addition, he is a trustee of Memorial Drive Trust and serves on the Advisory Committee of Princeton-Montrose Partners. Board member since 1994.
Betty Woods
Betty Woods President and Chief Executive Officer of Premera Blue Cross (formerly Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska) one of the area’s largest health care contractors. Ms. Woods serves on the Board of Directors of Pacific Northwest Bank, is on the Board of Trustees of Western Washington University, and is a founding member of the National Institute for Health Care Management. Board member since 1994.
