A
powerful combination of resources:
Successfully supporting the removal and transport of two buried waste storage
tanks at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL)
required the same engineering support we have perfected and become known
for in removing large components for commercial clients. We enlisted the
services of a local company to provide a crane and a multi-axle transport
vehicle to lift and move the tanks. Thirty-five tractor-trailer trips were
required to deliver the complete crane assembly. After five days of assembling
the crane, the tanks were lifted and moved on two consecutive days. The
project was safely completed one week ahead of schedule and under budget.
The approach is now being considered for other buried waste across the DOE
complex.
