Fairchild's products power your world
No matter where you go, there we are, providing power
for applications as diverse as cellular phones, handheld computers, Internet
servers, telecommunications equipment, and household appliances. From
the wall outlet all the way to the circuit board, Fairchild's high performance
power analog and power discrete products convert power, manage power,
distribute power, and conserve power, utilizing industry-leading processes,
circuit designs, and package technologies.
Take a look at a typical battery-powered portable product,
such as a notebook computer or cellular phone handset. Failchild's low
drop out (LDO) linear regulators regulate the multitude of voltage levels
used throughout these systems. As technology moves toward distributed
power designs, systems need many different voltage levels, increasing
the need for LDO circuits. In addition, at each point where the voltage
level needs to change, our low resistance PowerTrench® power MOSFETs
save power while providing specified voltages. In a typical notebook computer
application, as many as eight MOSFETs are needed to meet varying voltage
requirements. This one-two punch uniquely positions Fairchild in the semiconductor
world, providing analog and discrete solutions to a wide array of power
problems.
Fairchild's power expertise extends far beyond motherboard
power management. Fairchild's new buck-boost regulators provide power
management for the screens on cellular phones. Fairchild's analog PWM
controllers and power MOSFETs also shine in DC-DC conversion and switch
mode power supply applications. Where designers need to convert alternating
current (AC) voltages to direct current (DC) voltages, our high voltage
offline analog power switches and fast charging IGBT power transistors
can be found in applications such as battery chargers and AC adaptors
for battery-powered products.
We're even combining our non-volatile memory technology
with analog circuitry to provide intelligent power control. Our ACEx
product line is used for fuel-gauging applications which monitor how much
energy remains in a battery, letting you know just how much talk time
is left in your cellular phone.
Fairchild's high voltage regulators and power MOSFETs
are used in all types of power supplies, from DC-DC power bricks used
in distributed power applications in telecommunications switches and Internet
servers, to power supplies for set top boxes, personal computers, monitors,
displays, and household appliances. In many of these applications, our
TinyLogic products utilize some of the industry's smallest packaging
to provide electronic signal routing and control. And Fairchild's high
speed optocouplers provide optical isolation within power supplies to
protect all of us from dangerous voltage levels found in products we all
use every day.
Every electronic product needs power. And no matter
where you go, if power is being provided, there we are.
